Hen swallowed piece of broccoli stem and it's stuck in throat

Good idea. I let them out for a while today and she walked around a lot and scratched and pecked. She stopped for a minute and twisted her neck around a couple times. I shake the mealworm bag to get them back in and she ran a few feet then walked in. She did eat a couple worms and drank some more. Better!
Good as long as she keeping moving and eating and pooping.
I've found nighttime isolation is a great way to keep a good eye on the digestion status, feeling crop seeing poops.
I just grab them off the roost and cage them every night it's needed......but my coop is easy to do that in.

Hi, thanks for asking. We are dealing with sour crop now, I think. I tried to give her plain yogurt last night and this morning, but she really seemed to hate it. I kept her inside all night with no food or water. Her crop was still slightly puffy this morning, but not too big. I had to change her vet appointment from today to Tuesday, but I told them about her and they said put apple cider vinegar in the water. I started that early this morning, and she seems better tonight. Less gurgling noises. It was in the 60's today which is a heat wave here, so I got them out in the yard twice today for quite a while. I didn't see her spit up at all. She kept moving and only twisted her neck around a little, a couple times. I know she got a few worms and pecked and scratched the whole time. She's still kind of slow, but I'm hoping she continues to improve.

Hi all, so here's where we're at. Chicken looks great! Her comb is bright red. She's eating, running, drinking, pecking, scratching. Haven't been able to see a dropping for a couple days. Her crop doesn't feel puffy at all. I haven't seen her spit up at all for two days. She is still a little "gurgly" when I massage her crop and there is some odor with it. I have a vet appt tomorrow, plus we are leaving Saturday for a week. Ugh! I'm being wishy washy about driving an hour each way and spending $65 if the vet is going to say keep giving ACV and she'll be fine. I just don't have enough experience to know how this usually works. If we weren't going to be gone, I would not take her. My neighbor, who takes care of our pets while we're gone, is a retired vet tech. But not for a vet who cares for chickens. She had chickens in the past but not for long because something kept getting in her coop and she gave up. So what do you all think...keep the appointment or cancel because she's improving so much? Anyone with sour crop experience? Thanks!

So I kept the vet appt. They did not find any yeast in her crop but did find a couple unusual bacteria or something I don't remember what they called it and gave me an antibiotic. Very good experience. She is awfully thin but hope I can get her better before we leave this Saturday.

Great! Glad it was a good experience and glad you got some antibiotics. I was going to say I wouldn't have spent the money. But I didn't want to influence your decision. Happy it all worked out, and I hope she gets back to normal quickly.
