Cochin killed by owl - help on taking care of her best friend

I have a city ordinance that doesn't allow me to have roos... boo, I know. My only other option at this point, is to rehome her. She is a little over a year old. She's the most gentle thing and very very timid.

Can you try getting a couple of young pullets? Maybe you could find a way to introduce her to them, once they are done with quarantine. anyway, they would help distract the older birds, so maybe the flock would all hang together after that.

I've gotten two 8 week old pullets. My worry after reading introducing new chickens is that the Americauna will always be picked on. I have 2 barred rocks, 2 black sex-links and now 2 black sex link mixed pullets. EC is a white and gold Americauna... she's the odd hen out.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything. I have bought sets of chicks and mixed the breeds and the last four I bought, one was an Araucauna, one an Australorp, one Cuckoo Marans, and one Welsummer. They all ran together just fine as babies. Since they've grown up, they've kinda split up and gone off with their own friends. But they still run together sometimes. Our flock tends to segregate by age groups, or personality types. We have one white rooster that runs with a hen that looks like his mother.

She's black, and a lot older than him. Hopefully, it will play out in a good way but only time will tell. Just try to keep an eye out for her.

I appreciate everyone's encouragement. And all of the advice! I will do pretty much anything to keep the rest of my girls happy and healthy... (having a live in chicken is definitely out lol)
