So I had two eggs that pipped at the same time. About 12hours later after I noticed the pip on the Serama egg was already zipped all the way through but the membrane looks dark as if there was blood that he could have accidentally pecked at a blood vessel? Anyway, the Polish egg still had the same small pip.. Well 8 hours later Serama egg is still the same and probably dead as I can't hear peeping and membrane is still dark while the Polish egg zipped and hatched! Should I at least take the shell off and try to keep the membrane intact and see if the chick is still alive :(

You can kind of see what I meant about dark membrane.

I assisted and chick is dead :( he died because he needed help and I didn't give it to him sooner. I feel horrible. He might have died due to lack of oxygen but don't know exactly why he couldn't finish zipping. Membrane wasnt dry, nothing looks bad except that there is still dark streaks on on membrane. Here are some pics

Sometimes when they zip the membrane dries closed and the chick gets stuck. If I dont see them hatch out rather quickly after zipping, I will help. Every person is different. Dont feel bad, You live you learn.
