Hello,

I'm new to raising backyard chickens. I have two Lavender Ameraucana's, Two Silkies and four Leghorns. I was hoping the community could help me determine the gender of the Silkies and Ameraucana's. I'm pretty sure I have both a male and female Silkie but not 100% sure. I'm less sure on the Ameraucana's for they look the same. Excuse my inexperience, I'm learning every day. Thanks for your help!

will submit a guess... (learning too for sure) I think the silkies are a pair.. the lower looks like a roo- I have 3 silkies.. the roos tend to have much broader and longer combs when they are little..
but they are difficult to determine.. I don't think I could predict the lavenders but they are all very pretty birds

Thank you!
That is interesting because they are over 20 weeks, they have not let out a single crow. What are the give aways for the Americanas?

Both Americanas are roos. You can tell by the saddle feathers. They are pointed and not round tipped like a pullets. Their tails also scream roo. As for not crowing yet they tend to mature a little bit slower than the rest.

Both Ameraucanas are roosters. I'm not sure about the Silkies, but I'm leaning toward them both being pullets.
