Chick taking longer than 24 hours to start hatching after first pip

Hi All,

I am in the process of hatching 7 chicks. They are currently on day 21 of incubation. One of them pipped yesterday at around 6am, but hasn't started the hatching process (zipping yet)... it has already been over 28hrs.
The chick is definitely still alive as I can hear it cheep every now and then, but I am worried that it is stuck, or busy drying out inside.

Please advise if I should assist in the process, although I have heard that that is quite dangerous.

There are two other eggs that pipped this morning, but now they seem to be doing the same as the first one (just remaining still and not hatching any further).

I would assist the first one and see if it's stuck before helping the other two. You can search how to assist hatching on here. I just take the top part of the shell off. Then wet the membrane to look for veins. If there's not alot of blood in the veins I peel it off and fold it over the edges of the egg. Gently pull the head out but leave the chick in then put a few drops of water around the chicks body. Then put it back in the incubator kind of propped up on a damp rag. Most of the ones ive had finish the job themselves but I keep an eye on them. Add more water or after another day I help them out if they haven't passed away

I recent has a chick piped in wrong end. i just open the little hole around pip are for her breathing. I give her 24 hours to absorb yolk. After 24 hours I assist her to hatch. She unable absorb complete yolk, I let her in incubator for whole day before putting in brooder. Chicks unable to absorb yolk in such cases. Only help when you sure all blood veins and yolk fully absorbed.
She is now fine and healthy.
