Looking forward to incubating my firs pea eggs this spring

The best time to make your pairings would be around November. Sooner the better as they will be used to each other. If it is the first laying season I would be tempted to let her set the eggs, she will probably only lay one clutch.

They have been together since I got them as chicks two yrs ago just have kept them separated by chicken wire because the two times I had them together he got aggressive so I separated them and he played nicely again sticking his head through the pen and letting them preen him. Seems one of the white and one of camo give him the most attention but seen all 4 preen him so I'm not sure but I got some pics to show and maybe someone can help determine the two black shoulders sex. As soon as I figure out how to post them, wont be too long.

I just witnessed my peas breeding for the first time so excited. Getting more and more confident that I will be able to hatch my first pee chicks this spring. I'm already feeling like a proud grandfather LOL

I bet you'll get you first egg in the next two weeks!

Hopefully you have plenty of calcium in their diet as I did not and my peas are suffering a little trying to lay for their first times. I got 3 bad eggs with extrem soft shells so since under advisement I have scrambled 18 eggs n shells and got some better feed with added nutrients and calcium, looking into getting crushed oyster shells also and something about calcium glutenate for a quick boost but not sure what or where to find it yet.

Calcium Gluconate can be found at TSC or one of the farm stores. Do a search here in the peafowl section for more information on how to administer it to your birds.

Thank you ! Ive read the thread and hope I will not have to use it, but will pick some up from TS next time I go into the big city . The second hen is much better off the the first which she recovered great after laying back to back eggs 2 days in a row so I figure she was a little bound up lucky not too bad as she was able to lay the 3rd egg even though it was soft shelled and not viable or so I assumed it wouldnt hatch more then likely?
