Is Medicated Starter Feed Being Discontinued from Being Sold Through Feed Stores?

Hi, can you tell me which store, so we can reach out to their team? :) That team member is wrong, unfortunately. Medicated chick feed and starter feed is ALL still being carried at all TSC stores and other feed stores. It is not affected by the VFD changes.

It does sell out very quickly during Chick Days, however!
It was the store in Millbury, MA The chicks just arrived today, while I was there in fact so not sure if they would sell out of feed before their chicks arrived. I would think they would stock more thinking folks would come in buy chicks and feed at the same time. Isnt that part of the purpose of selling the chicks to sell suppies? Can't be very profitable just selling baby chicks for a few dollars a piece. Anyway, I was told very clearly that they do not sell medicated chick starter anymore. So there must be some misunderstanding with the staff. Hope this helps.

My TSC had medicated chick feed.

The did not have my Flock Raiser tho...guy said corporate orders everything based on sales.
I had been the only one buying it for at least 6-8 weeks, I could tell by the stack and the Mfg date.
But I digress.

Kudos to byclover2. He got the managers/staff at the two TSC stores in my area squared away with regard to carrying medicated starter. Both stores carry Purina Medicated Chick Starter now, and the Carrollton, GA store even displays it.

On another matter, it was like a zoo at the Douglasville, GA TSC today. I picked up a couple of 100' rolls of 4 x 2 welded wire that were on sale, and there were lots of customers at that location, but TSC was conducting inventory with the help of an outside team. This was in the middle of the early afternoon on a Saturday. People were tripping over themselves trying to get through aisles blocked by the inventory team. When I worked retail, we always checked inventory and stocked shelves during closing hours. Anyway, it was really crazy over there today.

On a positive note, they had a great selection of chicks and ducklings available. The quality was excellent.

That is weird...why on earth would they try to do an inventory on a Saturday, during a sale.....and I presume during chick days???!!! SMH.

I read somewhere that oregano is really good for preventing Coccidiosis. I didn't read the whole thing but it was listed as a natural alternative to medicated feed.

Oregano has not been proven to be an effective preventative or treatment for coccidiosis. The amprolium in medicated feed is proven to be the safest and most effective treatment.

You can ask them to order it -- it should be a Worksheet

Millbury, MA actually started getting chicks the week of Feb 20 -- early, but the start date was moved up because of the nicer weather :) A new shipment just came in but their Chick Days did start early this year, so some feed may have sold through.

I will have the team reach out to the Millbury team and make sure they understand what is and isn't affected by the FDA's VFD changes. Thanks for the feedback.
