This may seem like a dumb question, but I've very little knowledge on chicken genetics. Since EEs do not breed true, will I still have better chances of getting mostly dark patterned chicks by breeding my red EE cock to my black, gold-flecked EE hen rather than a wheaten or grey EE hen? I do not like to keep majority-white coloured birds due to them being easy pickings for the hawks and eagles.
Here's a picture of the hen as a pullet (she looks basically the same, just bigger) and the cock (with his cute muffs all pecked out).

I think it's an unknown, just no way to really be sure what you might get. They could be "hiding" all sorts of colors and patterns in their genes. But that's what makes Easter eggers so much fun:)
