Lies Spread Quickly RP

(Sorry it took me so long to reply!)
~Ash took the bucket with a grateful grin. "And, no, I've never had bacon," she replied, unable to ward off this man's contagious upbeat manner. "Is it better than raw meat?" She entwined a lock of hair around her finger in abrupt embarrassment. "I'll bet anything tastes better than raw meat as a human." She trailed along after him, bucket in hand, as he led the way along to a building that radiated the pungent scent of fowl- a scent even obvious to human nostrils.~

"Now don't get excited when they do, keep it calm. it just makes them nervous and you bloodthirsty. Don't think I didn't have them thoughts now too. It's a fine line we walkin'. I've been trying to take the best of both natures to improve my life, and if ya wanna stay, I'll expect you to do it too." Greymane poured the water into a trough, and the feed into a hopper. He gestured for her to do the same, as the curious chickens cackled and brushed up against their legs, eagerly anticipating food. They were a bit leery of the girl, but swarmed Greymane as he reached down to stroke an old hen.

~Ash bit down on her lip hard as the chickens swarmed around Greymane, some even seeming to enjoy his presence. How was it that, even as a human, she had this overwhelming desire to kill these fat little birds? She shook her veiling hair out of her face as she bent over to tip the bucket. How does Greymane treat them so coolly controlled?
Hands trembling, she tipped her bucket of feed into the metal hopper. She stepped back as the chickens flocked all over the feeder like buzzards swarming over a kill, a mixture of hushed wonder and temptation resting on her. A small grin crossed her pale lips. She could grow to like these little birds.~

Greymane smiled. With the birds thoroughly occupied, he waded back through to the nests, where he grabbed an egg collection basket and handed it to her. The nesting boxes were nailed to the wall, dry leaves and bits of straw sticking out of them. The fat brown hens laid fat brown eggs, little gems hidden clustered within. Greymane gestured for Ash to collect these.

~Ash walked over and plucked an egg from a nest, turning it over in her hand and marveling at it as though it were a foreign treasure. I've eaten raw wild bird eggs before, she recalled wryly as she tediously placed it into the woven basket Greymane had handed her, in desolate times. Her spindly hand danced along the nests, clutching the apparent brown delicacies- a depiction derived by the way Greymane looked at them protectively. Humans, even Ulven humans, are even stranger than I comprehended- why would one eat eggs raw when he had meat at his disposal?~

"I'll show you where these go on the counter, then we'll pitch some hay to the cows and the mule. I leave the calf with Bessy all day so I don't need to milk her in th' evening unless she wants it, an so as the calf gets nice n' fat. I'm sure you can agree that a fat animal tastes better. After dinner, I'll stall Bessy so she milks good in th' mornin'."
He proceeded to take her just inside the cabin door, where the eggs were to be set on the kitchen counter there. He hummed softly, not particularly hungry himself, but excited to share what he had. She has never had bacon, he thought. I wonder how much of that elk is left?
"Just a little more work, and then I'll cook up a nice night dinner."

~Ash slunk in after Greymane, eyeing the confining walls with the natural wary of a wolf. She ran her finger along the wooden walls, feeling the former trees with a sense of nostalgia for her woodland home. She placed her basket on the counter, eyeing the assorted human finery with suspicion. There were things that seemed to be made of thin white wood and hard bowls that seemed to be made of impenetrable rock. I feel like a bird in a lake here. She grinned wryly at Greymane, still unable not to catch his contagious upbeat manner as he hummed a tune within the depths of his throat. I could grow to like it here..~
(Jabba, Garjzla, are your Vepsen still hunting Greymane? If they are, we could say they killed Tess- that'd prove to be an instigator for Greymane...)

Greymane could feel her hesitation. "Was your pack completely wild, Ash?" He asked. "I was Wilder in my youth, it's jus easier to know I'll have a meal every day, this way. I remember... But that's besides the point. There's your sleeping quarters, up in the loft. Featherbeds up there, no stuffy bedframe. Snag enough geese, you can make one too, if you like. Comfy for both shapes, really. It's dry, warm, safe as any cave. Why don't you get settled while I feed the other animals? Won't take but ten minutes and give you a chance to look around."

~Ash shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "I grew up in the woods," she muttered, rolling her tongue over the word abandonment, but deciding not to use it. "No pack, no parents." Her eerie flame eyes darkened suddenly. "I have a suspicion they were killed." She paused and ran her tongue over a cracked lip, trying to remember what Greymane had just told her. "Well, thanks, I guess I will go take a look." She gave a small grin, though slightly shaken at the evoked thought of her parents, and turned toward the ladder that lead into the loft.~

Greymane took a wicker basket out too, to grab dinner items from the root cellar while he was outside. He set it down on the grass not far from the corral, heading into the hay barn to pitchfork some hay to the mule and the cattle. After a few healthy forkfuls each, he looked everyone over a minute or two, to make sure all three of them looked happy and healthy. Satisfied, he turned to grab the basket, heading to the root cellar. He grabbed a slab of bacon, cut two cured steaks from a side of salted beef, two potatoes, and two apples. Loaded up, he started back to the cabin to start cooking.
