well i thought i would candle some of my eggs as we are now halfway through the incubation.
i candled 8 and all were fertile and with lots of veins, so i am now worried what if they are all fertile, i will need another cage.
i thought with the eggs coming in the post that most of them would be duds.

Some may not make it all the way, and you can always sell extras. That's what I do and it helps offset the cost of the eggs. How many eggs do you have total and what breed are they?

Candling gives you a good idea of how many to expect, but until the hatch, those numbers may change. But hopefully you will have a good hatch with more than your expectations.

As stated by SunHwakon, you can always sell what you cant handle, but keep in mind that even after the hatch, the first few weeks are vital and you most likely (or may) loose a few chicks in the brooder due to many unforeseen or natural causes.

I hate the cliche...but don't count your chickens before they hatch; and even at that, give them a couple weeks to establish. Just have that For Sale sign ready, or as you said prep a pen for a larger quantity of birds.

well i just candled some more and they were dudes, so it looks like i am not going to be overloaded with little babies, so now i am worried how many will hatch, hope i get some pretty coloured quails. it' all in the waiting game now. lock down on Wednesday. fingers crossed that some will make it to the end.

Hang in there, you will be over eager to see them pip and worry your head off about it.
