Hello. We got our new chickens from the Co-op this morning and have noticed that one of the chicks has curled toes, she is walking ok and it is not stopping her from getting around. We have tried to put a boot on her with bandaid, but since she is a bantam Silkie no matter what I do the bootie will not stay on, does anyone else have an idea of how I can fix this? Can a wait a few days for her to get bigger? or what? not sure what to do

I have seen people that use 2 pieces of a masking tape----with help they lay one piece of tape down with the sticky side up---place and straighten the toes on this tape leaving the normal space between them. Take the second piece of tape----again with help---working it up and over the toes, back down to the tape---across to the next toe then up and over, down to the tape, etc. Then trim the tape close to the end of the toes and the sides. Let the chick wear this a few days and remove--with good luck this should straighten them out some.

We managed to get the masking tape to stick. She is so tiny is hard to do , but we managed it. thank you for the advise

Whatever you do, do not use duct tape. You'll never get it off without destroying delicate chick toes.

Even better than masking tape is Vet wrap. It's elastic and sticks to itself without adhesive. You ca get it at any feed store.
