So random story time. I have had a flock of 27 birds for about 2 years now so I'm still relatively new but I have almost this entire time had two roosters with all my hens. Never had any problems. My two roosters, becky

One day houdini disapeared we found no feather or any other evidence of what happened to him. Sadly I still wish we knew what happened to our pretty little boy, he was very attached to us and would cuddle with my dad and I if we were seated outside. A month back now I found an add on kijiji of a gorgeous Polish roo and the add said they wanted to get rid of him because they had him with 8 hens and a much larger roo who kept beating him up. So I imeadiatly jumped and snatched him up as quickly as pissible.
When I got there the guy warned me that this roo was terrified of people and wouldn't let anyone pick him up then proceeded to unsuccessfully chase him around the coop for a solid five minutes.i asked the guy to let me in for a second and gently grabbed the poor thing as I would my own hens holding him close and securely. I wish he hadn't been stuck in with a roo who only showed agression towards him, he is still missing patches of feathers and his tail is slowing growing back. The first time he was out with my hens and roo they didn't know what to make of him,and he didn't know what to make of them. I let them investigate each other safely for a week before fully releasing him in with the flock, becky and him actually cuddled the first night both of them covered in hens. Rod once before was terrified of human touch will now come running full speed with his flock of girls and will let me pet him and cuddle him!I have never met such a good natured roo and I am so glad I got him. The reason for this story is please people give roos a chance sometimes you will be like me and end up with the sweetest little roo to add to you flock, I know a few people who turn up their noses at not raising their owns roos which I get their reasoning, but I am glad I found rod Stewart
