3 hens with neck feather issues..not sure what it is/how to treat it? (Pictures included)

Thanks for the info. I can definitely separate the offenders from the flock once I find out who is causing the harm...but I dont have the stomach to use the specs, lol. From what i've read, you have to pin them through the nostrils. I cant help but think that it would hurt them?

They are called pinless peepers. They have them in plastic colors and basically they just hook on the nostrils. I used them once. You need to make them bendable by warming in hot water first, and then someone holding the bird and it's head still while you try to bend them into place helps.

I was the exact same at the start but now I've used them once I would never look back. You clip in their nostrils but it dosnt go through it and they are completely painless. I would highly recommend them but of course it's your desicion. If you want any more info about them let me know !

Ahhh, I see. From what I was reading, you had to pierce through the nostrils and it sounds painful!

Good to know...I will keep that in mind!

They all settled peacefully last night....of course they got to free-range all day because the weather was so warm. We shall see how they fare tonight though!

I still wouldn't rule out the possibility of feather mites. Just because others show nothing doesn't mean they are not there. Not the easiest bugs to get rid of. They live on/in the feather I think.
