A little on the crazy side.
Chick emergency again…

This chick pipped yesterday morning. Made no progress during the day or night (where as the other one hatched at night)

It made no progress today and seemed to have trouble doing any zip. So I helped it out by making a zip but not breaking the Membrane.
This chick was so badly shrink wrapped it was unbelievable. It started pushing once I made the zip but its airsack was glued to it.
Once I had gotten it broken free I wanted it to rest for a bit, but it started screaming because its egg was stuck to its butt. Which again took a while to get it free of the chicks body.

Now I notice a problem:

Its very active, cheeping, eyes open, but what the heck is this?? It smudges bright pink blood..i’ve put it in a warm damp paper towel in the brooder but its not staying still…

I dont know what to do..

I don't think that's actually on the chicks vent but instead it is where the yolk Sac absorbs. It looks like an incomplete absorption of the yolk sac. Keep it on something soft so it does not tear it and it should go away over the next 12 to 24 hours

Yes, it should heal up. Sally would tell you to put it in a container. Deep enough to keep it in (coffee mugs work) and add a damp paper towel to keep its bottom from sticking to the cup.

Yeah i thought the same thing..

Oh, so it wont cause bleeding to death? Is there a way this can be pushed back inside? Its just leaving blood smudges everywhere so i was on the edge of my seat..

as long as it does not tear it open it will heal up and be fine. I personally would put it in a smaller area so it can't tear it open on a damp paper towel like MC said

It is, but it's a bit of a headache trying to find it. It's buried at the bottom of a few not-well-labeled links.
But yes, that is what you do... Good luck!

If it ends up coming out further I have a post that might help you.

Thanks for the help everyone.

This morning its still there, just dried up, and not smudging pink blood.
