I made my own food for my quail. It contains: corn, layers pellets, oats, cat food(crushed), seeds(flax/poppy/ect), wild bird seed. Is there any thing else I could mix in? Also what type of feeder/water should I use. She lives inside so I have pet store water that she doesn't use s o for now I have a chick water. WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use chick waterers and chick feeders for mine. If you give them a dish of food they will dust bathe in it! You could supplement with sprouted alfalfa and scrambled egg, both of which are high in protein. Remember to give her finely crushed oyster shell as well for strong egg shells.

Thank you, I also have carrots in the mix but, what type of grains (besides oats) can I put in her cage?

I've given mine spray millet as a treat but it isn't that high in protein which is important for quail. You can buy freeze dried bugs such as crickets which are great where protein is concerned (crickets are 60+% protein). Don't give them too many mealworms (which can be bought dried as well) as they are high in fat.

I'm not sure why some people call it 'cuddle' fish bone - it's actually cuttlefish - the bone from a cuttlefish. It's white and oval shaped. You can find it in pet shops as it's a common supplement for caged birds.

They'd eat small ones but I doubt they'd take on a full grown one. It may take them a few tries to have a go at eating them but instinct should kick in and make them try it.

I'm afraid that is an American(ism). Our dialect isn't very precise when it comes to d's and t's. A lot of the time it sounds like keddle fish. LOL!

Thanks for the explanation. Now I understand! If someone had written Keddle fish I wouldn't have known what to think! That is LOL!
