Help with my 2 laying runner ducks

Some of mine do not eat oyster shells much - I think that's part of the issue. So I use a nice organic layer feed, and add the calcium citrate. I have used calcium gluconate liquid, but the citrate is less expensive. They don't mind it at all, it just mixes into treats or food.
Okay. The layer feed doesn't contain enough calcium for ducks? That's great they are okay with it.

Where I get my vitamins. My mom n pop grocery store has a wellness section with vitamins and herbs and such, and I buy a big old bottle of 250 mg tablets.

I think some of my Runners just have a high calcium need - I have seen that on the forum, ducks' nutritional needs have some variation. Some ducklings seem fine without much niacin supplementation, some get lame, have seizures . . . they are little unique individuals.

My Khaki Campbell girl noms down on oyster shell quite a bit!

Thank you. I will look for some calcium citrate next time I go to the store. I think I have tried to give them egg shells, but I will try that too! Hopefully I will be able to see a difference within the next week or 2.

Is there such thing as too much calcium for the girls?

I think you can overdo it. It is not easy to know, without a blood test, exactly what they need. 100 mg a day has produced no problems with my ducks and if a duck has laying troubles, 100 mg twice a day for three or four days generally seems to take care of it. There was a time when Romy needed an extra 100 mg a day for a couple of weeks. Now she's fine with what I give everyone....Love that duck.

@Amiga
I was looking at the store today and I saw Calcium Citrate plus D3, is that ok? Also, would calcium citrate powder work?
