Tomorrow is day 18, a.k.a lockdown! And im really anxious to see my babies but i have a problem. I purchased a gracelove mini 7egg incubator. I only have 2 eggs in there and they are both viable. It doesnt have the correct floor for them to hatch on. What should i do?

Ok i was just worried about the fan in the middle making it to hot if there isn't enough proper circulation. Could i put the eggs in the bator and let them hatch there? I know is have to keep the temp and humidity perfect.

I would not put anything in it, especially cardboard. Assuming you have water wells in the bottom that would cut the humidity, become soggy and it's not necessary. I personally am not fond of incubators like that, but people hatch in them just fine. Just leave your eggs in them like you've had them, keep the humidity up and if they are viable and are going to hatch, they will. Good luck.

yes it has a water well around the outside of the fan, im not happy with the one i bought but it was an impulse buy as my daughter wanted to hatch some chicks this year to add to our flock. i do want to buy another incubator that is better and will be able to incubate and hatch in the same area, do you have any reccomendations? i was looking at the brinsea mini and the hovabators. im just concerned with the hovabators being styraphome how well they hold up. We want to do other eggs to like quail, ducks and peacocks for our little farm we have.
i found a yosoo lcd incubator on amazon that is similar the the brinsea mini but just a different brand, any suggestions?

also, i should turn them completely on their side right? right now i have them small end slightly facing down for the air sack. today is the last day i turn them tonight i will candle and mark the air sack them lockdown the incubator! im super excited to watch these guys hatch and curious to see what they are as i bought random ones at the store!

Ok, one, incubator recommendations, if you can afford Brinsea they are top of the line-but you also get lower capacity. I highly recommended Hovabator. Almost all their models are well loved. The 1588 is most popular right now. Picture window, digital controls. I actually just replaced my old LG with the Hovabator 1583. It's the non digital version of the 1588, and I am real happy with it. It's the only styro bator I would buy. I've heard a lot of good things about the Incuview as well.

Two, you don't have to lay them on their side. Many people prefer hatching upright.

Three good luck with your hatch and make sure you update to say how it goes!

Edited to add: When I say it's the only styro I'd buy, I meant Hovabator in general, not specifically the 1583.

Depends on your preference. I like to run higher humidity at hatch because I am hands on and the 1588 recommends no higher than 65% and I've talked to a couple people who have had to have their thermostat reset because high humidity threw it off. So, just that alone made me lean toward the 1583. Plus I can't see in spending the extra money for digital when the non digital holds the temps as well and I use my own thermometers and hygrometers. I very successfully hatched in an old Lg for 2 1/2 years, so I knew I didn't need any extras.
I'm sure temp control on the 1588 is nice, but to save the $ I can do without...lol My 1583 cost $122 I think it was total.

yes amazon has the 1583 for $122.15! im leaning toward that one i think because your right saving that money i could spoil my babies some other way lol and i have extra thermometers and hygrometers anyways that i use! I want to do some silkies and then maybe some quail and ducks for our farm. so im thinking buy another bator so ill have 2 and can double incubate! ahh this is so addicting! i first got the bator for my 4 year old to learn and we love to candle and watch the babies move on the inside and im pretty sure im more addicted than her now! im def. a hands on person and im nervous about this lockdown bc i love to candle my babies at night before their last turn. ive been able to turn them about 5 times a day since im a stay at home mommy. Any suggestion websites or threads would be appreciated! thanks for all your help also!
