Ongoing Quilt Projects, Continued from the "No Appreciation...." Thread

It does save my sanity. Living with a man who is in constant pain and not always easy to live with, I absolutely must have something else to focus on or I'd go crazy. It would be nice to sell more quilts than one a year, that's for sure. It frees up a space for a new one.

Oh, the Buttercup quilt is proving to be one of my not so wonderful projects. Some of that is due to one of the fabrics I got at Walmart having too much stretch. If I had noticed that immediately, I'd have starched the heck out of it before and as I cut pieces, but I didn't until things became a tad wonky. So, some seams in the Acanthus blocks just don't meet up properly. Sigh. It will look nice from a distance. Guess I need another quilt for my own bed. After all, my bed needs a wardrobe, too, right? The colors are perfect for a summer quilt.

I didn't sweat this border, just used the darker chocolate brown, which seemed okay at this later stage. @fisherlady Karen, you may be right. I might just need to put a larger block around this, either 12" or 14", so it can at least have some drape over my queen size bed if I'm going to keep it and use it. I have no other beds other than a daybed in the basement guest bedroom so my queen size is all that it can go on, really.
The dimensions at this point are 59.5". I'll have to fudge on a block to make it fit. Wish it had been 60". It could use a smaller block plus a wider border, I suppose, less piecing to do to get to the finish line.

Well, this was my decision for the next block, a round of 5" half-square triangles to bring back some points to the quilt after a round of squares. If I make a pillow tuck on it and then border it, I'll have a queen size quilt, what I was trying not to do, LOL. As is, it's about 69" square.
