Hi, I had a few questions about my flock. Last year I had respiratory hit my flock it was TERRIBLE! Determined to never agin let that happen I started over this spring and got all new healthy birds. I turned a 8X12 shed into a chicken coop and made a 25" run going outside. I looked for the healthiest birds I could find, I went and checked them out made sure their was no past health issues and picked them up. I also ordered some birds online from a hatchery, all was good. The first week I had to keep them inside the shed because the run was not complete, I left the window open and tried to leave the shed door open as much as possible a few times a day for more fresh air. Around the first week I noticed some light sneezing, nothing horrible. I thought it was the fine pine shavings I laid in the coop floor? Maybe the dust as they were all scratching around? No puffy faces and nothing else alarming. They are all eating and all drinking and I'm getting 8-10 eggs daily, all seem happy. I finished the run 4 days ago and since then the fresh air seemed to help the sneezing and they have all almost stoped, but I noticed today one of my young hens that hasn't started laying yet was sneezing, I picked her up and noticed a crackly like sound from her chest, it seemed to only happen when she was stressed out not when she was just walking around. I separated her and brought her inside in a create, I gave her some vitamin water and fresh food. She has no other symptoms and is eating/drinking? Should I be very worried for her or my flock? Could it be the bedding or the fact they were inside for a week? I'm just extra worried I don't want to go threw respiratory again! Any thoughts would be helpful.
