Hello everyone. My husband and I just recently (Monday) brought home our first flock of (hopefully) hens. We have 4 Barred Rock pullets and 4 mystery pullets. We are thinking the two red pullets are Rhode Island Reds or Red sex links and the two black chicks are either australorps or black sex links. Excited to be here!

Hi! We are glad to have you, beware, you may get addicted to BYC!

I have gotta say this is a pretty snazzy website and if you need help identifying breeds/genders everyone here can help you out. Good luck with your birds!

Hi and welcome to BYC and congrats on your new flock.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

All the best

When your birds are about 8 weeks old you can take photos of them (individual birds) and post at "what breed or gender is this." Glad you joined the BYC flock

Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
