Hello! I have two daughters who love to show poultry in 4H. Last year I ordered from Hoovers hatchery and we ran into some problems with missing toenails and such. I was told I needed to buy "show quality" birds. I have been searching but I cannot find a local breeder willing to sell us chicks. I would take any suggestions. We live in Madison, SD. Looking to purchase just 10 or so.
 
Are you particular about breed?

Cackle does sell show quality but only Old English Game Bantams. These are by far my favorite breed, with cochin bantams being second. The downside to showing OEGBs is that males are required to be "dubbed" (combs and wattles removed) but you can get around that by only showing females, which is what I would do if I ever get into showing them.
