Lockdown

Sorry to hear that.
There's nothing more frustrating than someone asking for help, but not taking a thing you say into consideration! And not everything works for everyone. Not everyone can get away doing things the same way. Just because I have high hatches and open my bator frequently, if someone is loosing a lot of chicks, and everything seems to be on track, the first thing I'd say is well, try it with being hands off. If rates come up, that's great. If not, you can rule that out. A lot is trial and error, but if someone who is asking for help won't even try any of your suggestions, it's pointless to waste your time,

I Totally Agree. This Lady asked in the PM how I had such great hatches and If I would help----It was very important to the family that they get better hatches, because that income and food was needed for the family and farm----that's when I told her I would help if she would follow my directions completely for one time. She agreed. She has nice equipment (4 factory cabinet incubators and 2 hatchers)and was planning to get another GQF to try to get more chicks hatched, because of her low hatch rate. I could hatch here in 2 cabinets and one hatcher the numbers she wanted. If her next hatch which is bigger numbers does good---she might be able to turn off a couple of the incubators------this family is awesome and big----13 kids and the 14 about due. If My Directions had on not worked---I would have talked with you AMY to see if we could help her. I never lived in Canada so I did not know if what I do in SC would give her great results there. How I do my Humidity here was a lot different than she was doing there. Must have worked, because she had a 95%+ hatch----we will see in a day or so how the bigger hatch does----I am pulling for her so hard.

I feel like I live in Canada...lol Awful close, only 45 minutes. I hope it works out for her. I can't even imagine that many kids. After I graduated college I moved down to help my sister with her brood. She ended up with 8 and I swear that's why I started having gray hair in my 20's lol My one was plenty enough for me. Love him dearly and he's a good kid, but I was 34 when I had him and there was no way I was having another...lol He turned 9 today. Makes me feel pretty old...lol

I/we had 2 and that was enough too.

After she ask me a few questions she mentioned she needed 2/3 chickens a day just for the family table----I went ahead and asked----I told her I was interested more in finding out more about her family than she was to find out about hatching eggs----LOL. I could not imagine. She showed me pics of them canning like apple sauce----cooking it up in big restaurants type pots---canning a 100 jars in a day in one cooking. They live and make their living on their farm---it was so interesting to me. Hoping she will hurry and send me a e-mail on how this bigger hatch turned out??? I am pulling hard for them.

That's awesome self supplementing. I wish I could raise my chickens for meat, but there is no way in you know where I could eat something I raised. I'm one of them bleeding heart pansies when it comes to killing and eating...lol If I was lost in the woods with no fruit trees in the middle of a deer population (with weapons) I'd probably die of starvation. It'd be interesting to know how her hatches are going.

If you got hungry enough a little frog and lizard would be in trouble if they got close to you------for sure if your kid was with you and he was hungry----you would be giving him some frog legs to chew on-----This is not funny but---LOL.

Yep they got those heritage milk cows that they milk, make their own butter, cheese, etc, etc----all kinds of animals and a lot of help just in the family. The oldest is 20. They have A Huge garden and a huge amount of food put up for the winter..
