Well, we went in for chicken feed and came out with new chicks. We bought six "Tetra Brown" pullets at TSC. The young man helping us said he knew little about them except they get very dark, possibly black, and lay black or brown black eggs. I have been searching the internet and can't find anything called Tetra Brown, although there are other Tetras. We have had about 8 different breeds over the past few years, but haven't heard of these. Can anyone help with what color body/eggs to expect, and any other information about these chickens? Also, any photos of adult ones would be great. Thank you so much for your help!

I did a google search and found this: http://www.centurionpoultry.com/gui...nagement guide NA 2012 edition (230312bs).pdf

I'm guessing it's a production sex link hybrid, perhaps cross with RIR and Leghorn in it, but... the article was not specific about the breeding.

Note, this article is intended for commercial operations. I found it interesting that they recommend 54 sq inches/adult bird caged, and 1.1 s.f./bird on the floor. Of course, they also cauterize the birds beaks off in order to achieve that amount of inhumane crowding...

I just spotted those at my TSC today too. I think they/the name may be a TSC exclusive, so information may be tough to come by. Brown eggs though.

I'll try to post a photo tomorrow. To me, the chicks look a lot like red sex link pullets, which I have had before. I assume by black eggs, he meant very dark brown, but since it is so hard to find anything I'm thinking he really didn't know about them at all . . .
Thanks for your help!

We just got 6 "Tetra Brown Ameraucanas" from TSC yesterday. I'm hoping to hear from you all about your experiences with them!

That's even weirder. There are no such things as Tetra Brown Ameraucanas. I could see Tetra Brown being the name of a red sex link strain. I wonder if the person got confused or if these are supposed to lay green/blue eggs and it's a new name for Easter Eggers. Please do keep us posted.
