In the Brooder
Any idea what kind of chickens I hatched? The eggs were given to me from a lady with big brown layers. I got 2 of the solid brown color, and 3 with the stripes

It’s highly probable her “Ameraucana” is really an Easter Egger. If she got him from a hatchery that’s almost certainly true. Easter Eggers are normally mixed breeds to start with. That means you can get a variety of colors and patterns from his chicks. Some of the pullets might even lay green of blue eggs.
It’s possible those really are RIR’s, rooster and hens, maybe hatchery quality. If you scroll down all the way to the bottom of this link you can see what RIR chicks should look like.

Red is about the weakest of colors genetically. A lot of other colors and patterns will often show up when crossed with red. I don’t know what her “Ameraucana” rooster looks like, but I’d guess the chicks that look like RIR chicks probably have that RIR for a father. The others are probably from the Ameraucana.

They all have single combs and yellow skin. No Ameraucana in them. Looks like a few of them may have had a red sexlink mother.
