I have some bobwhites in the incubator but it kind of slipped my mind and its day 21 and I should have went to lockdown yesterday, will a day longer be okay?

Thanks!

Yeah they will be fine. In the wild their is no lockdown stage the mother continues to sit and move the eggs, one day shouldn't hurt. I usually turn the eggs until there is an internal or external pip but lockdown stages are preferable.

Day 21 is a perfect day for lock down. Bobs hatch around day 23-24 or so. I have had them hatch on day 22 and as late as day 26.

Make sure your humidity is up around 65% to 70%. Bobs need a bit more humidity than do Coturnix quail.

And good luck!

yes i agree i had my humidity up to 70% for my Mexican bobwhite.
they are really wild, not easy to handle. sold mine and have gone back to Coturnix, not kept these for a few years, but have just hatch 19 really sweet quails, when i put my hand in to feed them they run to you which is really sweet.

Oh and while they are very fast with zipping out of the egg, they love to pip and sit for what seems like ages!! LOL So dont try and help them bust out of the eggs, they wil zip when they are ready.
