Good news is, all of my existing chickens/chicks are still alive. Bad news is, when i had my incubators running with about 42 eggs, i had about 6 days left and we were having really bad storms here in Norcal, subsequently, the power went out for 7hrs overnight. Needless to say, not a single hatch. Everything had died. No Silkies or Wyandottes from the uncle, nor my store bought fertile eggs.
However, I am back up and running. I don't have as many eggs this time, but I am attempting to hatch Red Comet Hen x Svart Hona Roo eggs. Hopefully I have a new sex-link breed that can be stabilized. Started 6 eggs on the 16th and 8 more on the 19th. Everything looks good so far in the first 6 after candling. I took 6 Rock Island Brand store bought fertile eggs in my small dome incubator as of last night. In my approach this time, I candled the eggs before putting em in to ensure good quality eggs with yolks that weren't to dark and shells without cracks/fractures.
