Okay-
So I originally bought a bunch of heavy duty metal T-posts, 8 footers, for my run. I had looked into some hardware from WedgeLock to help install corner posts, etc etc...

Well, now my husband wants to cover the run with some sort of mesh or chicken wire, or whatever...

I am not sure how I could attach the "mesh roof" of the run to the T-posts. It would be much easier to put in the wooden posts, put in a few support posts in the middle of the run and attach some chicken wire that way, right?

What do you guys use? Metal or wood? I feel like metal will last longer than wood. But I don't see how I could easily attach a covering to it... On the other hand, I really do not want to load up all the t-posts and drive them back to town either

So- what do you guys do? Do you have a covering on your run with t-posts? I just dont want it to end up looking like the beverly hillbillies built it LOL

I have metal. Part chainlink and part t-posts with wire. My covering is x-heavy duty netting with wire to support it that runs through an eyebolt at the top of a wooden post I put in the middle of the run.

When we move I would like to do my run up nice and neat with wood framing and such. It does look better. Though a couple of perks of metal are it lasts a good like time and you don't have to worry about one breaking, and its easier to reconfigure and expand for chicken math.

I had used wooden posts and chicken wire before. it looked kinda of junky. We just moved, so this time I want to make it look nice. I am tempted to get wood posts. Our neighbors used wood posts and it looks nice. I am just concerned about hauling the tons of posts back to menards, and about how long the wood posts will last...

I used Tposts and attached bent conduit for rafters with DIY clamps.
Spaced posts/rafters to fit 6' wide 2x4x6' welded wire.
Drilled clearance holes thru Tposts to attach a piece of wood for door hinges.
See My Coop page for details.
