Lice and Mites - Pictures

Thank-You aart! I created a warm bath with permethrin (diluted) and have separated 6 of my girls into fresh quarters away from their coop. I am hoping to see results.

So you are saying the feather loss that is showing in the photo's I posted will not grow back until their molt (in this case this fall)??

Never have I had a mite problem and I would hate to think it was because of the move to the garage....it makes a fantastic winter spot with lighting insulation and space. It will be difficult to spray the entire garage-walls and ceiling as it is 14 feet high and ceiling of 20.
I would not treat for mites unless I saw clear evidence of them.
Use the product as directed or it may be ineffective or too concentrated.

Feathers can break off for many reasons,
unless a feather is fully plucked out of the follicle,
it will not grow out until a molt - which is usually in the fall.

Could this have been caused by anything but? Thanks for the feather info....so my flock may look pretty ragged for the summer it sounds....bummer but if they are healthy I am happy....

Will a mite treatment kill lice too?? My chickens have got something but I'm still trying to work out if it is mites of lice. Not even had my birds a year yet so new to this. Will a mite treatment kill lice too??

Permethrin will kill lice.
