Convert a nice shed or build a coop?

How many chickens are you planning on having?

I personally find sheds really useful especially if it has electricity and windows. So if you have the time and space, I would build a separate coop. That way it also gives you the chance to build it to your liking.

So our problem is that we don't have tons of extra time and definetly are low on handyman skills (husband is a computer geek

And I love my geek) sooo i am looking for easy, cheap, but looks nice, easy to care for, healthy and safe for chickens. I'm thinking of having 8 chickens.

I clean daily. when the poop is fresh in the morning I just scrape it all up and throw it in a large rolling trash can.I have timed it ,and it takes 3 minutes

Nice! Our shed is probably 12 by 8 or around there. What is stal-dry?

Stal-Dry is a brand name for PDZ. Not sure what the actual composition is, but it's sort of like cat litter, it's used in barns (an chicken coops) to absorb moisture and ammonia from feces & urine. It's sold in bags at feed & farm stores. It comes in a granular form as well as a powder-like form. I use the granular, less dusty.

Here's a pic of our poopboard with the PDZ...
