Hello! I am new to raising guineas. We have chicks in with a guinea. Is it ok to give it chick starter food? I know they need more protein. They are in the same box as the chicks. Is there a way to give them different food with higher protein, or continue with the chick starter?

I routinely brood chicks with keets. When I do they all get 28% protein turkey/gamebird starter. The high protein feed will not hurt the chicks. The keets can survive on chick starter, but there are all kinds of chick starters ranging from 15% protein to 22% protein. While the keets can survive on the chick starter, it is not good for them and they will never reach their full potential. It also does not allow the proper development of their internal organs or meet the needs of their high metabolic rates.
