Near the breaking point?

Been there? wanna try and keep me from tipping over... Been a terrible, awful last few days... I am not new to any of this and have dealt with loss and predators but..

I can't do this anymore... watching what you pour your everything into be destroyed and/or gone? It's wearing me down, distancing me... the whole darn thing.

I am no wimp here either, i'll be out there in any weather(and living here can mean t-shirts to parkas in the same week) been out there when i am so sick i need to toss my biscuits in the barn lol. (much to offended horses) i can deal with some basics, you know crap happens, right?

But i swear i am so sick of feeling like the world is against me doing this anymore. I don't even want to walk out the door because i don't want to know what awaits me out there, and heck were still basically winter so the 'real' predator fun hasn't even begun yet.

Poke me with a fork. and call me done. -sigh-

Just needing a vent or open to some suggestions?

When one bycer hurts, we all hurt.

Been there!
Last spring we started a new flock, 25 chicks. They were a month or so away from starting to lay eggs. We went away for an overnight trip on the weekend. When we came home....... all but three chicks were dead, bodies were everywhere, some were missing.. it was very discouraging and disheartening. What did I do? Cleaned up the mess and marched my butt to FFH and bought all new chicks and started over.

You'll never have livestock, without dead stock. Fact of life, mother nature, vicious circle n all, basically..... crap happens. But I don't let it define me.

I have to fight with my husband about spending any money when it comes to the livestock, he doesn't mind the benefit, eggs and meat, but he hates it when I want to spend money on them. At one point I had to get rid of almost everything because it was getting too expensive. I sold my goat herd and pigs, and got to keep my sheep and chickens.

It's frustrating to try hard, be reasonable about money spending and try to offer the best you can and then in one day they're all gone. I get it. So your choice is quit or keep going. I choose to keep going, because when all is said and done, there is something really right about going out and watching and caring for the animals.
