Spayed Dog Attracting Males

I just had my 10 month old Great Pyrenees/Pitbull mix spayed 2 days ago. She has never came into heat, but since being spayed the males haven't left her alone. We have 2 intact males (her brother and father) and another temporarily staying at our house. The only one who doesnt constantly annoy her is her brother. The other 2 keep sniffing her, and licking at her. On looking it up I read that if ovarian tissue is left behind it could still trigger the hormones associated with a heat cycle, but why would that happen immediately after being spayed? Are they just sniffing because she smells different now, and it will soon pass? Anyone else had this happen?

As she was just spayed 2 days ago, I would attribute the sudden attention to the odd smells she has carried home with her from the facility where the procedure was done.

Many years ago we had a young (less than a year old maybe, can`t remember) dog spayed. When she came home that day the intact males (2) checked her out. I was surprised when they tried to mount her. I figured they`d be checking out all the smells from the vets`, like Ol Grey Mare said, but never dreamed it would cause that response. It made me think at the time that dogs get too much credit for their olfactory abilities and that they should have known what had happened to her from the smells, but that was just a kneejerk offended reaction based on my disgust and surprise and anthropomorphising that they`d have empathy for her having gone through something somewhat traumatic. Probably so many scent signals emanating from her that they couldn`t sort them all out.

I would keep her separate from the males since they are bothering her. I agree with the above, coming home from the Vet clinic will garner a lot of sniffing (and sometimes hissing from cats...) Perhaps while at the clinic she expressed her anal glands and the scent still lingers, they may have also expressed her bladder and she isn't as clean as she would normally be, it should pass soon. I think it's the fact she had surgery, any type of surgery. Since it was reproductive, she may be having some discharge from her vulva they're smelling. I really doubt she's in heat.

It takes a couple of weeks for their hormones to make the switch.

I also really think the smells contribute. We took our cat to the vet a couple months ago for her yearly check up and shots but also had her shaved down since she had some mats she wouldn't let us get and when she got home, our dog would not leave her alone. He had always chased or bugged her somewhat, though has calmed down lately, but for whatever reason he just kept harassing her and would not leave her alone. Would follow her and stick his nose under the table or chair and in her fur, ignored us telling him to leave her, etc. At one point I had to get a leash and hook it to him. He didn't mean any harm but was just a little too curious and exuberant. This went on for several days maybe even up to a week, I'm not sure on the exact time frame. Eventually he did calm down though. I think they just smell weird coming back from a vet. Or maybe they just don't smell like themselves and the rest of the pack anymore and the pack forgets who they are? But eventually they should remember and calm down

it's actually a very very common thing, whether you are having a dog spayed or neutered. The simplest explanation is "She smells different" She isn't the same dog that she was when she left your house. Even though the hormones aren't out of her body, her pheremones are different. She likely isn't feeling well, so exudes a "sick" vibe. She smells of the vets office, disinfectant, and strange humans. She likely has traces of blood on her.

Mounting by the resident dogs (both male and female) is normal pack behavior. It can also be simple excitement.
The other dogs should have limited contact with her for at least several days after her surgery to prevent accidential injury. An excited dog can easily knock her over and hurt her.
