Here's a question: Do Chickens all have a soft round-ish bulge on the upper right side of their chests that is warm and jelly-like? I just noticed it on all three of these girls. Oh wait! I just looked it up. It's their crop. I hadn't noticed it so big before and on all three at the same time. But they are still eating breakfast, 4 hours later!

Congratulations on saving these hens! Have you tried looking on Craigslist for a coop or posting on the free stuff wanted section of Craigslist saying you are looking for a coop? I know Santa Rosa has it's fair share of chickens, so maybe you can find something that way. I've used a dog crate as a temporary cage and it worked great. They do fine since really they just use it for sleeping.
Good work being persistent and giving these girls a better life!
 
Yes, that is their crop. It will be full and bigger/rounder when they have eaten a lot, and smaller/not visible in the morning after they have gone all night without eating. It;s like a storage pouch where the food goes before being digested. If it isn't smaller in the morning when you let them out, though, it could indicate a problem.
