I will be picking up our new chickens in a couple of weeks. They will be 4 weeks when we bring them home & there will be 6 of them. They are all large fowl breeds (I think) - 2 Wyandottes, 2 Sussexes & 2 Easter Eggers. Just wondering what I can use to transport them. It will be an approximately 45 min drive. Do I need to purchase an extra large dog crate of is there something else I can use that I maybe won't have to purchase?

A cardboard box will work fine, with flaps to fold shut. I have received chickens in gunny sacks and they were fine. You don't need the large dog crate for moving them. Although I will admit over time, it is nice to have an alternative pen occasionally.
