Crazy easy way to make hard boiled eggs

wow!!! I can't wait to try this. Ive learned so much already and I didn't even make it through the entire thread!!

I will never dread deviled eggs again! Something so simple has the ability to change the world! Has anyone tried this method with duck eggs yet? Did it work for them too?

Your hubby is awesome!

So last weekend my husband asks if I want a boiled egg. Sure. He hands me the most perfectly peeled egg oblivious to the miracle he has performed. Casually I ask him how he made the eggs.

Get the water boiling first - rapid boil. Add a dash of salt. Gently lower eggs in with a ladle. 14 minutes later drain and put in cold water so they are cool enough to handle. Peel.

I tried it tonight to see if I could duplicate the perfect egg. The eggs practically roll out of the shell. I have almost intact shells. Sooo easy.

Now, do I tell him how amazing he is?

Obviously the perfect day to re-post this! Thanks again chickensista.

I loved this way to cook eggs back when I had chickens. It always produced beautiful yolks and easy to peel eggs. Since I now have ducks and their eggs are much harder to peel after cooking I now steam them. I had never heard of steaming eggs before I started searching the forum on how to hard cook duck eggs. I think steaming the duck eggs is the way to go for a pretty yolk and easy to shell egg. If I get chickens again in the future I will probably go back to the method mentioned here as I really liked it for the chicken eggs.

I have started steaming all my eggs. I love how they turn out. They still need to be chilled quickly to peel, but I have have more success steaming even fresh eggs that have just come out of the coop.

I have this little egg cooker called an Egg Head, it holds 7 eggs, so you can't boil alot at a time, but the eggs come out perfect after an ice bath to cool them off. I've even dropped a few because the egg popped out of the shell when I went to peel it. I had an egg fly across the kitchen once! I think it has some cups to make poached eggs, but we've never use them. All you have to do is put a little water in the bottom, then wait for the buzzer to go off. :D

I don't even know if toastmaster still has this, we've had it about 10 years now.

Arrrggh!!! Why can't I figure this out!! I read this entire thread, and just about every other thread on peeling eggs and I still get THIS:

I have tried vinegar, salt, ice, ladles etc. Nothing is working for me!
