Crazy easy way to make hard boiled eggs

OK, I've been trying various methods to hard boil my eggs, peel them, and still end up with something resembling an egg. Some success, but nothing I'd want to use for say deviled eggs.

So last weekend my husband asks if I want a boiled egg. Sure. He hands me the most perfectly peeled egg oblivious to the miracle he has performed. Casually I ask him how he made the eggs.

Get the water boiling first - rapid boil. Add a dash of salt. Gently lower eggs in with a ladle. 14 minutes later drain and put in cold water so they are cool enough to handle. Peel.

I tried it tonight to see if I could duplicate the perfect egg. The eggs practically roll out of the shell. I have almost intact shells. Sooo easy.

Now, do I tell him how amazing he is?

That’s the same way I have been doing it works great every time. It does seem to work even better with room temperature eggs so none crack when you put them in the boiling water.

The best way to hard boil eggs, is to use your instapot! Using the instapot makes perfect hard boiled eggs every time, whether you want to do one egg or a whole dozen or whatever you can fit into the Instapot.

Add a cup of water, add an egg tray or anything to keep the eggs out of the water. Put the lid on, place the vent on seal. Do a manual setting for 5 minutes and walk away. My instapot actually has an egg button, so all I have to do is to press the egg button.

Once the eggs are done, you can wait for the steam to vent naturally or you can turn the knob to release it quickly. Remove the eggs straight to a ice bath, then place them under cold running water and peel away. No more problems and the best hard boiled egg you will ever eat!

You are right! My daughter came over--she lives in another town, now--and wanted to can (don't know WHY they don't call it "JAR"?!?!) picked eggs. She, the ULTIMATE English Major, ALWAYS reads directions or looks it up on the net. She did 4 dozen eggs, and ALL of them peeled easily. She kept the eggs out to reach room temperature, had the water at a rolling boil, put them in for 10 minutes, then cooled under running cold water, then a cold water bath. After about 10 minutes, she rolled them between her hands, and the shells came right off---ALL OF THEM. The handful that I boiled, the "traditional, cookbook way" were a PINA to peel. (Figure PINA out yourself.

) We know that they were hardboiled because there were some leftovers, so we ate 'em. I'm ready to change the way I do it!!
Deviled eggs are BACK ON THE MENU!!!!!!

We’ve not had much success using this method with our fresh eggs.
