Can I collect the goose eggs for safekeeping then,,,,

I have a pair of Pilgrims that I would love to let the goose hatch out her eggs. Last year the Mama goose did go broody but I had a dog that was stealing her eggs.

This is what I want to know if it will work---- As she lays her eggs, I will collect them until I get 8-10 or so. When I have a clutch of eggs,I will put them back in the nest and make a point to contain my dog so that she doesn't disturb the nest.

I just wanted to know if the goose will refuse to set if I take the eggs out until I get a clutch.Has anyone done anything similar?

I add eggs to chickens nest all the time but wondered if my goose would react differently.

Why not just leave the eggs everyday and let her build her own clutch.
 
My goose builds the nest close to my house where my dog can get to it. My old dog doesn't do well confined. I figured I would rather confine my dog during the actual incubation time rather than the extra several weeks prior for my goose to lay her clutch.

Not sure if I made sense myself but I hope you understand. I know we cant always have it both ways but I'm trying. So that is why I figured I will collect the eggs before my dog gets them. Then when I have enough eggs to put back in nest, my dog is confined to 28 days rather than longer.

I'm not concerned that she will hurt the goslings when they hatch as the geese will take care of that.
 
I also know, that once my goose goes broody, she will sit on the nest. But is seems like the minute she gets off to go stretch herself, my dog is in the nest stealing an egg, grrr!
