I am soon getting 16 meat chicks, and I was wondering when temperature to keep the brooder at. I have heard that 33 degrees for the first 5 days is good. What do you think?

They have the same heat needs as any other chick. They need a warm zone and a cool zone in the brooder. Under the heat lamp, it should be about 90 degrees. The best guide for how much heat to provide, is the chicks' behavior. Watch your chicks. Observe their behavior, and adjust accordingly.

This. If they're crowding under the light, they need more heat. If they're getting as far away from it as they can, it's too hot. If they're scattered around the brooder peeping contentedly, the temperature is just right.
