Chickens vs wife's flower garden.

1000

You can see here, i think.

It does work. I have even had my vegetable garden fenced off with it for years and no one hopped the fence, even for yummy tomatoes. I love my flamingos, they are easy to care for.

I use feed bags for this.
We had a very dry fall and I was able to gather about 10-12 feed bags stuffed(I really packed them in) full of nice dry leaves.
Stored them in a shed and dole them out on occasion, I like to mix them with straw when I clean out a nest.

Always good to have a mix of materials in 'deep litter'.
I only use the deep litter in my mesh covered run, as my coop is not conducive to it,
but man it really does the job keeping the stink down during wet weather.

Here's a great description of contents and how to manage organic 'bedding' in a run or coop...and there's a great video of what it looks like.

Great use for feed bags, and thanks for the cool link! It's great to know that we can use so many diverse things in the "litter".

I use that floppy green fencing around my veggie garden to keep the dogs out, so it's great to know that it will work for chickens too. Of course they do tend to push underneath it when the tomatoes are ripe so that they can grab the closest ones, but at least they don't devastate the whole bed!

It has worked for me. I don't think they can judge the height of it because of the color, hopefully it works for you too.

I love your flower gardens. And, I think that is the reason why those light wt fences are so successful. I love using deer netting b/c it's almost invisible. They bounce off it a few times, never bother to look up to see that they could easily fly over the top. Then, they move on to "greener pastures".
