We have taken in a a little chick. I know it's too soon to know for sure, but it's fun to guess. Any ideas on gender of 5 wk old Rhode Island red mix?

A full body pic would help, but I'm seeing a fairly well-developed pea comb. Pretty sure it's boy, and likely an Easter Egger mix.

Heh, that looks almost like a clone of one I hatched a couple of years back. Mixed flock, came from an EE egg, but likely the father was RIR. I was sure it was a roo because it was everyone`s favorite and the way my luck runs that`s just usually how things work out but it turned out to be a hen. She lays an odd shade of green-gold egg. Crossing fingers for you.

Definitely a cockerel. That comb is too red and developed, too early on for a pullet.
