Thethering

Can you Tether turkeys like they do game chickens, I have some spots I would like to keep a turkey on a temporary basis and thought this might work it would be a daily thing nothing permanent.

If you tether a turkey by its leg, it will damage its leg and at the least you will have a crippled turkey. I can't imagine a turkey doing well tethered even if you were to use something like a dog harness.

If you feel the need to move turkeys around from area to area and can be present the whole time, you can herd them very well using 2 long sticks as arm extensions and moving slowly. I used to use this method when I would take mine for an excursion into the main field to reduce the grasshopper population. You do have to be in attendance the whole time or they will wander off.

The other method that could be successful is to build an over sized chicken tractor if you can't stay with them.
