I bought 3 day old chicks straight run and they are now almost 5 weeks old. I was told that one was a RIR and the other 2 were Golden Comets and newbie that I am, I totally forgot my reading that Golden Comets are sex linked, in which case I have 2 roosters as they were both light yellow.

HOWEVER...I can't be certain that they are true Golden Comets or if they are the 2nd generation...therefore not identifiable at hatching. I'm nearly certain 1 is def. a rooster, as his comb is already much bigger and redder than the other two, his legs are also much thicker and he's by far larger than the other 2. But it appears that all 3 of them are growing extra bumps on their legs...as in spurs...but it's way too early to tell for certain.

Long story to get to my question...is it possible for hens to also grow tiny "toes" back there?? As in not spurs. I can't seem to find info on chicken leg anatomy so thought I'd ask. Time will tell for sure but I can't keep any roos and was hoping to get a jump start on re-homing them earlier rather than later.

All chicks have spur nubs. They don't usually develop on pullets but they can. I had a group of four Welsummer pullets once and they ALL grew manly spurs. As pullets. Normal egg laying and good health so no explanation other than genetics.
