I got my beautiful 4 ducks last week and they're settling in well. It's a joy to be around them.
I have two dogs who are good with sensitive new comers to the farm - but who also love to eat their poo!! I cuddle the dogs a lot and wonder have I picked something up from the new ducks inadvertently.
Two days ago I noticed the dogs and I were both experiencing (for want of a better phrase) similar foul smelling gas. Then yesterday my guts went very bad and I've been up all night shivering. Not feeling too bad now but stomach still bubbling a bit.
I have a robust immune system and don't have much faith in conventional medicine so wouldn't be running to doctor unless it was serious.
I wonder is my immune system just adjusting to theirs.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing? I'm not one for freaking out but the shivering was odd

If it were me... I would ride it through. adjust.... Make sure you drink water. if it lasts beyond a few days seek a doc out keep up on probiotics. you and the dogs.... I am sure they would love some yogurt.

Do you not have any other ducks or even chickens the dogs have access to poop from?
If not, it might take them a little to adjust to the yummy new treat, but expect that they will pretty much always stink as a result of their yummy new found treat :(

Thanks Perchie.girl and Tlwr
Yes I rode it through and was over it in two days - I think the duck's microbiome and mine were getting acquainted. It was so strange!
The stench persists from the dogs - but I would say they'll adjust too. They get bored of the poo after a while - they did with goat, hen and donkey varieties in the past anyway :)
So loving having the ducks - they are gorgeous and very light-hearted beings
