Runny nose, clear mucus, no other symptoms!

About 10 days ago my oldest chicken came down with a runny nose. The mucus was clear and has remained so (except for the bits of food that get into it), I put her in isolation immediately (inside, since it's been so cold out for a single chicken) and have seen no change. Her bum is clean, her eyes, mouth, ears are clean and she's laying and behaving normally. A couple of other chickens in the main flock got runny noses for a day or so, also clear, but recovered really quickly, again, absolutely no other symptoms. I have them all on garlic and ginger supplements to give them a boost and apple cider vinegar water. I have antibiotics on hand, but was loath to give them in the absence of any symptoms suggesting bacterial infection. Am I looking at allergies or something here, or could it still be something serious? Has anyone else seen this?

I would not use antibiotics for those symptoms. They may have symptoms of a virus, or it may be cold related or something irritating, such as dust, ammonia odor, poor air circulation, or something else. The best thing you can do is to have good air circulation overhead, don't kep the coop too warm, keep bedding dry, and prevent mold, wet conditions, or dust in food or bedding. I would get them outside during the day for fresh air and sunshine.
 
Thanks for the advice, I don't think ventilation or heat is the problem, they live in an unheated barn and do generally go out, but we had a really bad cold snap so I was keeping them in right when the runny nose started, so maybe it was just a confinement issue. I'll give them another clean-out, too, to see if i missed anything. Thanks again.
