In the Brooder
Hello! So we had our Muscovy ducks lay a clutch in the nesting box in February and we let it go seeing where things went. She sat for nearly 3 weeks and jumped ship. I cracked an egg and it had barely a spot on it and I assume it got too cold and nothing was growing so we got rid of those eggs. Last year a Muscovy mama built her own nest in the ground inside the coop..we have a barn with dirt floor and she just dug a hole and covered it in down and we hatched 8 ducklings. If they're laying in a nesting box now with a wood bottom, should we add enough nesting material to make basically a hole?? It seems as even with straw and down the eggs get pushed out and around her rather than under her. Any suggestions? Thanks!!
