Hi again! Our Easter Eggers are staring to show some color differences and we wanted to ask if any of this makes it possible to discern Hens from Roos.

Chick # 1 - Hen? Thinking mainly on her stature.

Chick # 2 - Roo? Standing taller

It may be simply too early to tell. Thanks for any help!

I think that it is a little too early to tell, maybe post again in a few weeks and Might have better guesses, but I am thinking that 1 and 2 are pullets and 3 and 4 or cockerels, mainly based on their combs and different orange feathers. I am very sure about chick #1 being a pullet, but could be incorrect about the others. Very pretty chicks!

In terms of comb, none of them look like cockerels. However, patchy red on the wings is a very common cockerel trait, so I would go with 3 and 4 being cockerels.

Too early to say on 1&2 but 1 looks very feminine in shape. Note, this doesn't make 2 male -- I've had EE pullets with posture like that. 3&4 have the sort of splotchy markings many young males show. I hope you'll update in a couple weeks because it only gets easier to tell from here.

Thanks to everyone for your responses. We will hold on to everyone for now and see how they look in a couple of weeks. The orange on their wings is what made me post as I read in one of the threads this is a common sign for males so I appreciate the confirmation.
