EMERGENCY Sick? Baby Chick needs your help... More than just me

We incubated 21 Silkie Bantam mixes. We are on day 22, but I think the hatches are done. We had 11 of the eggs hatch, but 1 chick died yesterday several hours after hatching... Right after we moved it to the brooder.

We seem to have problems with the chicks legs. It's not spayed legs, but 3 of the chicks have 1 leg that stays straight... But can be bent. The chick that passed yesterday wouldn't stay off its back. If you set it upright, it would fall backwards immediately. We have band/straw braces on the 1, and that one is doing great, and the other not so good... She freaks out if she has them on, and she falls over immediately because she's flipping about... She's much calmer without. It'll stay upright about 50% of the time... It falls over all the time and keeps one leg straight out, but alternates which leg is extended. We keep her/it in a coffee cup lined with paper towel at times, but don't keep her in there for 15 mins, out for 30, etc. We are manually feeding and watering her. At times she'll waddle about the tote... Then we'll find her on her back... So she has her good and bad moments. She's going on 3 days old now (2.5), and I think she would be strong enough to get through this if she was going to. I really hope I'm missing something that'll help her. She's on medicated starter mixed with non medicated starter with electrolytes in their water. Anything else? Please help, we can't lose this little guy!

The brooder is a huge tote lined with a puppy pad topped with 2 layers of paper towels.

We have 3 white Silkies, and they all seem weaker than their darker counterparts... But then again, the one that died yesterday was a dark chick.

I tried searching before posting, but was unsuccessful... Probably not searching the right terminology. My wife didn't want me bothering y'all, but she also cried a lot when we lost the one yesterday.

Putting up a post is not a bother. That's what BYC is for. Do you have any Poultry Nutri-Drench? IMO, that is the best product to have on hand when starting chicks. Sounds like your temp was off a bit during your incubation. That's not unusual. I'm fighting with my home made bator now to keep it in the correct range. Some chicks simply fail to thrive, and she may be one of them. I think silkies are more prone to issues b/c of their vaulted skulls, and other breeding issues with them. Unfortunately, if she doesn't come around, the most humane thing might be to cull her.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. The only thing I have is medicated feed and electrolytes. I have an automated incubator that recovers (temp and humidity) quite fast. The temp is set to alarm me if it falls below 36.5 degrees, but stays consistent at 37.5. That being said, we came home one day and the microwave was blinking, which of course meant the power had gone out at some point and we have no idea how long. Maybe that's what hurt them? But the incubator wouldn't have gotten below 75ish even wo power.

The chick is one of the biggest in the flock of chicks... She's now doing a little better. She waddles around some and is staying off her back for the most part. I have her in her own basket in the brooder. She's started this sneezing thing, so I want to isolate her.

How long would you wait until you cull her? I hate to see anything suffering, but if she's improving even the slightest, I hate to give up.

I have another chick that still has it's umbilical cord still attached... The one with the cord/straw braces on its leg. I thought it would eventually fall off or get picked off by the others, but it hasn't. Any advice?
