I was spiraling out of control and binge watching youtube duck videos when I noticed some people do things a bit differently when it comes to feed. Some have separate water and food containers and some seem to just mix them both like a soup. There was even brief mention of fermenting the feed first?

I tried just putting the feed into their water dish tonight and they seemed to love it. Saved them the trip back and fourth from each one.

Just curious what most of you do?

I make Fermented feed for my flock have for over 5 yrs now. They love it, then at end of the day all feed left over goes into one bowl that then gets made into soup My Runners and Buffs love it that way. They usually end up wearing alot of it too.

I am going to try fermenting feed when my current ducklings are adults.
They ducks i had before i tried mixing with water but it spoils faster in the summer So dry always worked best for us. I keep it a few feet from the water so the food stays dry otherwise it turns into a cake lol. But keeping it far enough away none ever seems to go to waste. It stays dry and fresh
As long as your still offering a seperate bowl of just fresh clean water, because they still need that for dunking their head and cleaning out their noses and just drinking .
But i too am interested in feeding fermented!

Do you put apple cider vinegar in your fermented feed?
And then do you measure out a certain amount per how many ducks you have? Or just put alot out?

@Ducks4us

here ya go, start out small so you don't waste but this feed just keeps fermenting. anyway so no need to worry. I don't have room inside for more than one bucket going at a time though. So having 31 birds a 3gal bucket will last 2 days for me.

Going to give this one a shot today. 2 x 5 gal bucket setup. See how that goes!

Thanks !
