One year old Muscovy female, not sitting on the nest

My year old female Muscovy has laid one egg a day then free ranges all day until I put the ducks in the pen at night. There must be about 18 eggs or more in her nest. She doesn't seem concerned about hatching the eggs. I am afraid the eggs will go bad and we will have to dispose of them.

Are there any suggestions? Thanks.

Well you can't force them to go broody so I'd remove all the direst ones or all of them and let her start over then place the date on the new eggs she lays so you can keep up with oldest and newest. Then when she goes broody and you don't want her to hatch that many when she leaves the nest to eat go in and take out the oldest, Once she goes broody she won't care if she went from 20- 10 as long as she has eggs to sit on. The season is early so she will lay many more eggs and since she is a Muscovy I'd be real surprised if she doesn't go broody eventually. My girls love to brood. Mine are just starting to lay for this year so no broody here yet either.

X2...two of my younger girls went broody already (it's easy to tell - they pretty much won't leave the nest, except to eat/drink and bathe, and they'll loudly peep at anything coming too close to the nest or them). I changed out the nest box from a shallow to a deeper one - they didn't like it and it seemed to snap them out of their broodiness for now. Whew! Last year, I had two different girls go broody when I didn't want them to, and nothing I did made any impact on their intent to hatch.
 
I just wanted you to know that my female started sitting on her 20!!! Eggs today. I put a bowl of food and a pot of water near her. She is taking the food and water. She chirps loudly when I give her food. Just wonder if all those eggs will hatch.

They may i have seen members post about their scovy hatching 19 at one time. lol so if you don't want her to hatch them all and since she just started sitting you can remove the number down to what you feel is reasonable or watch out you may see her come waddling out with 20 ducklings. in about 35 days

My 7 month old scovy broods our Pekins eggs as well as her own. We have no drakes but wondering if she would brood if we get a pekin drake

I can't see her changing her mind about brooding if you got a Pekin drake They just love to brood. @swp247 Welcome to BYC!
