FLESHWOUND sunny day went horror due predator/one

Bright day , just bright day , sun shining , chickens having a nice dustbath and having lots of joy untill that moment I could here that one hens scream that I'll NEVER get out of mind , this is the first time it ended up like this , still shocked we all are I'm now holding my other hen and typing you this message , probably to find some hope , maybe some of you ever had a chicken with same kind of injuries and I don't know but this is the situation than :
all older hens went to neighbour / farmer for a fifty-fifty deal because I couldn't cull them ( those were the hens of my passed father I admired , adored , * one day I 'll find my prince , but my king will always be my father * ) , only a few of them stayed because of the fact I was going to get babychicks by two hens , those hens are both alive , one is still somewhat in shock but not injured and ' ok ' , now the real problem , which IS a problem ...
This hen kept hyperventilating and I blamed just and only the fact she could have been one of the rest that is no longer , but it's worse , it is really bad .
I was lifting her up and she felt extremely hot on the flank and belly , now I took her inside for a nice warm/cold bath to make her become calm and spoil her so she d be better untill I noticed this :
The FLESH on her tigh is naked ! all skin is ripped away :'( !!! she was already ' naked ' there since she is a broody hen ( or was ? ) so I didn't pay much of attention , but it looked so red so I said ' hey girly you have to start to stop with those feathers you pluck or you are going to be like that cat from the neigbours here ! ' while I wanted to put some cream on it for burnwounds so it would cure a bit better but like written before now i knew she had been struggling too and came out alive yes but for how long .....

I also have to confess I have worked with a veterinarian , specialized in exotiques , that means lots of reptiles and birds , yet a lot of small pets too like chickens , cats etc . I have experienced this kind of wound enough to realize how often it can be fatale especially depending on the weather , so very bad timing because flies are EVERYWHERE looking for some piece of ... what she now has exposed , yes meat indeed and it does look exactly like you buy that raw meat in the supermarket yet still has that small thin layer on it , altough it is rupturud ...
My experience in these wounds now is quite good but still ...
I'm not having all I need right now !
plus I do not know about a chicken having these injuries , here is what I till so far have done :
bathing her is NOT an option so I didn't do it at last , I only cleared the wound out with antibacterial water ( oxigenwater ) but now another issue ; I only have the one you can use oral wich means low percentage of oxigensulfade , not enough , normally it starts to foam all the bacteria out , it didn't , but I continued with the usual steps ' isobetadine gel ' , also just the veryyyy last bit out of the tube just enough to lay a thin layer , not thick enough in fact , it has to be really covered so all can heal and no fly can start laying eggs , final step looking for bandages ( for after surgery sterile compress but big ones , last patch used , not big enough ) ,
now closed it of with bandages for woman and taped it with some small plasters in the aid kit ...

Now she is having a fevere which is to expect , she needs antibiotics ofcourse and the ivermectine is also ran out ...
My ex boss the vet is now with his wife on holiday so he can't forsee me in her needs and just told me two things :
a : I'm afraid she is not going to make it BUT I said that about those last 6 animals you took home too and they turned out into huge crocodiles while they were dying so I'm believing in you and in what you have already learned , just use the knowledge you gained from with that cat that almost survived ! this chicken does not have maggots in there yet , that is why you should try it and if you see that she is not even moving anymore or drinking , you know ' tha drill ' good luck there and I'm sorry .

I didn't ask for any other advice due the fact I got shocked too much and only kept repeating in my head what I indeed used to do in the practice , now I see I do have questions and he's not available by whatsapp or anything ( newly weds ha ? )

My questions : if you ran out of ivermectine , can you use any kind of antibiotics from your own ?? I'm having a lot of that anyone with that kind of experience ? or just knowledge ??
Is there any online store in any of your countries that could deliver very fast for all the other supplies as well ?? she can't wait a full night now since the wound is not sealed of and can easily get maggots and if so , it is done with her ...
last of my questions : who else experieced a chicken where skin was off ?? how long does it take for her to cure / get a crust or atleast some skin again and if she gets the antibiotics , where do I leave her eggs now that are fertile , is there a problem if I 'd put them other the other hen or are the embryos able to be normal ? ( never treated a chicken with this and in most cases they had to be put down , officially the vet calls this a lost case .... but she is tooooo much a living reminder of my dad and I'm very attached to all those chickens in fact , her in particular and she is the one needing the 24/24h help now which I'm willing to give ...

really no one who could save some hens after an attack of something ? A chicken with ripped out skin yet the wound itself is clear , no bites in there , most have grabbed her only on the feathers I guess , it is a '' clean wound " tigh , belly and also smaller area on her back yet big enough , pffffff, yet ONE little fly that starts to lay eggs on her and she is lost , ANY help about how you took care of this amount of wounds is welcome , really becoming like crazy .... she cant die is all I can think of right now and how it would be best to keep that wound clear and locked off from flies or whatever kind of bugs ... I found other things but I'm used to one method so please some input :'( , yes I'm btw new here but did introduce myself (not) briefly

*update* , since no vet is available and " certainly " not for "just" one hen I used some gear I had laying here from ... a life ago and tried to stitch the wound somewhat with use of the cutane single knot but it failed , the fact the predator has one bite of the skin out of her makes it impossible to stitch without having to use some of the rest of her body , that can't be done if she is awake and buying angeldust is impossible so used Emla to numb the area only yet she still felt it so it will be waiting untill I can get some gear or a vet that does it but in this area .... very sick worried about the poor girl and with some good reason too ...

I am having trouble following along in your posts. Briefer posts can help. Do you have a picture of the wound(s) that you could post. Are you afraid of flystrike or do you see evidence of it already? For most wounds, saline, iodine, or other first aid cleaning solution is good to use. Then follow up with an antibiotic ointment. If flies are everywhere, it would help to bring her inside the house. Give her good nutrition and plenty of fluids. Chopped egg, liver, or tuna are good treats.

I have already done the first aid but problem is that it is not a bloudy wound but meat is visable , she has skin missing and lots of it , her entire flank , tigh , part of belly and back are ' nude ' it is really raw chicken like in the store , it can start to die off if not back closed under skin and tissue , my long posts is due the fact im bad at writing it in other language and understanding fluently plus I am totally freeked out as I wrote this and still , because I may have done working with a vet I don't know much about these animals yet , I'm totally green if it comes to that so it is stressfull I can't get any answer at all ...
About pics I like to make some and post but I dont know how that goes (now she is wrapped up too and inside house ) .

Note in first post I explained situation first and after listed the questions I liked answered . I already know first aid stuf but do not know all the rest of it and if the wound does NOT get stitched up how it would heal , would that heal if just the raw meat is desinfected and kept from flies or does it take long to grow a crest or anything , simple questions asked before and listed at bottom but anyone with experienced this etc

Chickens are amazing in how they can heal. Keeping her wounds moist with antibiotic ointment and watching for infection. Do you have any stitching supplies?

Hello all who is reading ( or trying too ) ,

First of all I like to apologize for the chaotic way I write and post things . I'm doing my very best not to write like that but like I mentioned in the topic where I introduced myself : I'm better in understanding , speaking the language rather than typing it , especially on internet , in particular a forum ... But I'll try harder and since English is at last the worldwide language I shall adapt myself to and the language and the way you all post and use this forum .
Not only because of that but also to make sure I will not be misinterpreted or worse , like someone already said , that my posts are not clear at all / readable . I'd like to express the problem / questions I have more so I'm giving it a try , please also give me the chance to that try and take a try ... Not for me only , but for in this post a hen in trouble ...

First of all , what seems to be the issue ? It happened during the day that my hens got attacked by something that bites out the SKIN of the chicken , so now she has a gasping wound the size of half a chicken , this wound is not a punctured wound that bleeds but even worse in fact she is just lacking all skin on her tigh , partionally belly and back , the meat is totally nude and around the meat (where skin is ) it has blead and is not able to get fixed again by stitching up .
This last thing , the stitching part could have been possible if we would be talking about a punctured wound , so as you see the case now a bleeding wound would have been better due just easily using some nylon and voila she is stitched up , keep clean and done , you got yourself a brandnew fluffy chicken in some healing time . But this is the same as if you are lacking skin due an accident , for instance when you have burned yourself , that takes up long time to heal and has to be kept sterile for a long while , you can compare it with that but worse ( her meat is naked and she is a chicken ... they are never sterile enough and if so not for long )

now my biggest question at this time is ' who else used to have a chicken lacking a huge amount of skin where the flesh was nude ???(or knows something about such injuries on a chicken ) ' and especially how that ended up , by what treatment in case of survival .
Further I would like to ask any ideas on this you have , just some toughts about it how it will turn out , wether or not a chicken is able to survive something like this or not because I only have ' common knowledge ' about animals and healthcare but I still am a newbie when it comes to a chicken .... for instance if it would have been a human it would have left a huge scar but it would be able to heal completely , even without stitching / using skin from other bodyparts , so the question running trough my mind is in fact more '' Is a chicken able to grow new tissue like any other animal like mammals/humans or not ? can this heal at all or is she on the blacklist from the man ' upstairs ' ? "

Also , Note , this hen is a broody with fertile eggs , which is in fact not healthy right now since the attack , due the strenght has to go to the healing and not hatching (that already asks a lot from your hen ) , so the other question about her eggs is in fact , is it possible to take out the eggs and hatch them without turning them every day in an incubator ? ( she doesn't sit on them all day yet , she is collecting them and even after what happened I'm not allowed to take her eggs so the broodiness didn't stop but she needs to in order to use all her power she has to survive this )

I reallyyyy hope that even when this is a long post , it makes any sense now and is readable and clear enough

p.s.: small update , the vet is still'' not available'' so he claims , and I quote " do you have any idea how many calls I get for poultry and chickenpocks ???! ONE chicken is why YOU call me ??? and even a halfdead one ? sorry no time for an animal that is better of in the soup , good day " . well , he is not a good vet anyway and I already ordered my new set of stitching gear and it contains special patches to use if you have a wound that can't be stitched that encourages to grow the tissue , it works like a pressure bandage and new cells , bloodcirculation gets stimulated so I hope she can hold it untill my shipment arrives ...

I've had a hen recover from similar wounds to what you are describing, she limped a bit but was okay. Sounds like you just should keep doing what you're doing.

I don't have any experience with that, I haven't ever given antibiotics for that sort of injury... They seem to be remarkably resistant to infection. I've had a hen with some extremely dirty wounds recover fully w/o anything done to them, other than picking the dirt chunks out of it. If you have gotten it clean I'd not worry about it.

Took my hen with similar wounds about, oh, I dunno, two weeks to get a nice cover and about a month to really start getting better.

Also, my hen never got any sort of bandage.... Don't know if that changes anything with needing antibiotics, if you've got it covered and moist so as such bacteria grow easily.
